How to correctly use the 'Parameter Configurator' and 'Compressor Table Configurator' tools.

This article will briefly explain what a 'Parameter Configurator' and a 'Compressor Table Configurator tool' is. Secondly it will cover all the good practices on how to use the tool. Finally some in depth cases are discussed.

Tools explained

The parameter configurator tool is used to set all parameters to a desired value. Including the minimum and maximum ranges.
The compressor table configurator tool combines multiple parameter configurator files into one 'table'. Users can switch between the desired tables very easily.

Do's and don'ts: Parameter configurator
  1. If a particular parameter is irrelevant to your application, leave it in the left-hand column. Do not put them in the parameter configurator file.
  2. Do not set parameters with the same values as the 'default' values. (The default values are in the grey boxes.)
    1. If you find that you want to use a parameter that is equal to the default values, leave it in the left column.
Good practice: compressor table configurator
  1. Using compressor tables can be approached in 2 different ways:
    1. 1. Use a parameter configurator file that is not included in the compressor table configurator.
      1. Insert all parameters that are the same for all compressor tables (common parameters) into the parameter configurator file that is not included in the compressor table configurator. For example: setting a language.
      2. Place all other (compressor dependent, not common) parameters in a 2nd, 3rd, ... parameter configurator file.
        1. Include the parameter configuration files that have uncommon parameters in the compressor table configurator.
    2. 2. All parameter configurator files are included in the compressor table configurator.
      1. Insert all parameters that are relevant to the application, common or non-common into the parameter files.
      2. Use all parameter files in the compressor table configurator.
      3. When programming the controller via the 'controller programmer tool', it is advised NOT to download a parameter configurator file into the controller.
        1. This is not required since all parameter files are included in the compressor table file.
  2. All parameter configurator files, used in the compressor table configurator must contain the same parameters. See image below.

Additional interesting cases
  1. A controller, which has been programmed without a parameter configurator file, will use the default values. (The default values are in the grey boxes.)
  2. Some parameters have a slider that allows you to configure a parameter as 'ON' or 'OFF'.
    1. If a such a parameter is configured as 'OFF' and downloaded into the controller, the default values will be used.
  3. Compressor table 1 has a parameter configured that can be turned off via a slider. In this configuration, the parameter is configured as ON.
    1. When compressor table 1 is selected, the values of this parameter are apllied.
    2. Compressor table 2 has the same parameter configured, but is set to 'OFF'
      1. When compressor table 2 is selected, the value itself will be changed to 'OFF', however the min and max settings from the first compressor table will still be applied.
      2. When the controller is power cycled, the value will still be 'OFF', however, the min and max settings will change to it's default values (grey boxes).
