ControlsStudio License USB-Dongle update request and procedure

Your ControlsStudio (CS) dongle license requires an update when one of the following situations occurs:

1. Error message (see image below) is displayed during the start-up process of CS. When the error message is displayed, the CS program is nonfunctional due to an outdated CS dongle license.


2. After installing the latest CS software version, some tools are missing, it looks like your CS license has been downgraded.
  1. Example 1: Only the 'Kit generator' and 'Controller programmer' tool are displayed, while before many more were visible.
  2. Example 2: When clicking the information (i) button, the incorrect license type is displayed. E.g. 'Trekker is displayed, while before it used to be Aviator.'
This article explains the procedure on how to request and update the CS dongle license. The procedure follows three major steps.
  1. Generating a Customer To Vendor (C2V) file.
  2. Sending the C2V file to CMCNV or Energair to request the update.
  3. Applying a Vendor to Customer (V2C) file to apply the updated license.
Generating a C2V file
  1. Download the 'CS_licenser_RUS_dongletool.zip' available in the attachments.
  2. Connect the CS dongle to your PC.

  3. Unzip the 'CS_licenser_RUS_dongletool.zip' and open or run the 'CS_licenser_RUS_dongletool.exe' software.
  4. The following window will appear.

  5. Generate the C2V file by clicking the 'collect information' button at the bottom left of the window.
  6. Save the C2V file and name it according to the following format: CompanyName_LicenseType_ExpiryDate
    1. For example: CMCNV_Aviator_11-03-2021

  7. The C2V is now generated.
Requesting the update by sending the C2V file
  1. The C2V file is to be sent to CMCNV for EMEA & APAC based customers.
    1. Create a ticket via the general CMCNV support website.
    2. Or, send an e-mail to support@cmcnv.com
    3. Include the following information in your request:
      1. Attach the previously generated C2V file
      2. If applicable, attach the corresponding purchase order
      3. Any additional information to facilitate the request.
  2. The C2V file is to be sent to Energair Inc. for AMER based customers.
    1. Create a ticket via the general Energair support website.
    2. Or, send an e-mail to support@energair.com
    3. Include the following information in your request:
      1. Attach the previously generated C2V file
      2. If applicable, attach the corresponding purchase order
      3. Any additional information to facilitate the request.
Applying a V2C file
If the request is approved, you will receive a V2C file via the e-mail or ticketing system. This file is to be applied to the CS dongle license in order to be updated.
  1. Connect the CS dongle to your PC.

  2. Open or run the 'CS_licenser_RUS_dongletool.exe' software.

  3. Select the 'Apply license file' tab. (1)
  4. Select your V2C file. (2)
  5. Click the 'Apply update' button to start the updating process (3)
Your CS dongle license has now been updated.
